Healthy living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a habit I have developed and love to share and I have chosen to prepare steamed vegetables this time. I share videos like this as well other videos about budgeting, recipes, savings, and being frugal to help you understand that it is doable and you don’t need to break the bank or drill holes in your pocket to live a healthy life.
My hubby requested to make this big batch of steamed vegetables because the doctor advised him to take plenty of vegetables. I then bought a whole lot of vegetables from the market which I decided to steam, package in freezer bowls, and then store in the freezer for future use. See my weekly fruits and vegetables haul video here.
Ingredients:
- Green vegetables. In this video, I have used green leaves but you can use any vegetable of your choice
- Fresh or dry pepper. I used both for the steamed vegetables
- Onions
- Crayfish
- Seasoning cubes
Method of Preparation:
- In an empty pot, pour in your sliced vegetables. I did not pour all of the vegetables into the pot at the same time while preparing these steamed vegetables because they were so much and it would require extra work to get all the spices and seasonings to get to the bottom part of the pot eventually so I layered the vegetables with the spices and seasonings
- After adding the spices and seasonings, stir very well to make sure that the ingredients get to all the corners and edges of the pot
- leave for 2 to 5 minutes depending on how fast your stove burns or the number of vegetables. That’s all!
These steamed vegetables can be eaten plain, with agidi or eko, yam, rice, and in fact any other meal of choice. All that is needed is to ensure that the vegetables are seasoned properly to your taste and to allow for flexibility with whatever you choose to eat it with.
